The Wheels have dropped off the Iowa Bus
It was not supposed to be like this, there was not supposed to be a season this bad so soon into the new Hawkeye era. Like it or not, this is the season that few people thought would happen this season. Almost every person thought that this was going to be a repeat of the glory that they had last season. The truth of the matter is that this is not the case and as a result the team will be sent to a BCS game that will not be the National Championship.
Looking back at the season, there are several areas that have allowed the opponents of the Hawkeye’s to seize the opportunities that were presented to them and allow them to either beat Iowa or come very close to giving them quite a scare. This is one aspect that made the team look a lot more vulnerable than they really should have.
For a team that was at the top of the college football world, the Hawkeyes has seen a drastic fall in this current football season, few players or fans for that matter saw things going the way that they did this season. It has to say the least a less than stellar season for the team.
There are several options that a person will want to give some serious consideration about when it comes to getting a gift for that special person that they will cherish for many years to come. There is no better way to get a person past the depression that they may be suffering from than with a gift that screams Hawkeye pride.
The quarterback situation was a massive let down; this was not supposed to be the case as they thought that they had the perfect player signed in the off season. This was quickly seen as not being the case as it soon fell apart in the passing department for the Hawkeyes. As a result of this massive failure, this led to the team having to fall back onto the running game; one of the biggest issues that the running game suffered is that the running back was simply just not ready. It is not really the players fault, he was placed in a situation that did not allow him to adjust properly and find his rhythm. This in addition to the defense that suffered massive failure is a couple of the things that kept the team from having another perfect season.
One year ago, this was a team that was not able to be stopped; now they do good to escape each week with a victory. This has been a massive issue for the team and as the weeks continues to pass; this will be an area that needs to be looked at. The good news is that they still have a decent standing and are looking at still getting into one of the big bowel games. The absolute worst that they will end up at would be the Ticketcity Bowl.
The latest blow to the Hawkeye’s dreams came at the hands of Wisconsin, the team that seems to be on track to take the National Championship away from everyone else. With a decent point deficit, the Badgers roared back to life and dealt the fatal blow to Iowa’s dream season. In the end this revealed that the Hawkeyes is a team with a lot of weak spots in their armor. The only real question will be can they recover and make a strong case to be atop the College football world yet again, only time will reveal that answer.
