Canada Thumps US in World Juniors

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canada got the revenge it was desperately seeking Monday, beating the United States 4-1 in the semifinal of the World Junior Hockey Championship. Canada will now face another rival, Russia, in the gold medal game Wednesday.
The U.S. juniors opened up a festering sore in the Canadian psyche a year ago when it beat Canada in overtime in the World Junior final in Saskatoon, Sask. That win ended Canada’s run of five consecutive gold medals at the world juniors.
If the Canadian juniors needed to be reminded what transpired a year ago, all they had to do was switch on the television in their hotel rooms during the 2011 event.
