Danny Kristo, North Dakota Hockey Player, Hospitalized With Frostbite

University of North Dakota sophomore hockey player Danny Kristo is hospitalized in St. Paul, Minn., where he is being treated for frostbite.

Kristo — pictured to the right after being drafted in the second round by Montreal in June 2008 — was walking near the North Dakota campus, which is located in Grand Forks, Sunday night. Temperatures in Grand Forks bottomed out at 11 degrees below zero Sunday, with wind chills as cold as 33 below zero. In those conditions, frostbite can occur in just over ten minutes.

The school says Kristo, 20, is out indefinitely, and no word was given regarding the severity of his condition. The frostbite occurred on the toes of his right foot.
