Puck Splits in Half After Shot Hits Goalpost
Filed under: Junior Hockey
Watch enough hockey, and you’ll see plenty of bizarre things.
None of them, however, is likely to top what happened in Sioux City, Iowa, Tuesday night.
During a United States Hockey League game between Sioux City and visiting Sioux Falls (S.D.), defenseman Andrew Prochno of Sioux Falls took a long slapshot from the left point. It rang off the goalpost, and play was almost immediately stopped.
No, the puck didn’t fly into the netting out of play. No, it wasn’t covered up by the goaltender.
Instead, the puck split in half.
Zdeno Chara is jealous.
Sioux City ended up winning the game 5-4 in a shootout.
