World Junior Teams Dealing With Missing Equpiment
Filed under: International Hockey, Junior Hockey
Three participants in the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships — which begin Sunday in Buffalo — have reached North America from Europe to complete their tournament preparations, but they are faced with a serious issue before play can begin.
Sweden, Germany, and Norway all traveled to North America from Europe over the weekend, but all three found they were missing equipment bags upon their arrival.
TSN reports that Sweden had virtually no equipment with them when they arrived, potentially putting Tuesday’s pre-tournament exhibition against Canada in jeopardy. However, Hockey Canada stepped up, helping the Swedes set up an account at a nearby store. That allowed them to get all the necessary gear, and Tuesday’s game in Toronto, is expected to happen as scheduled.
